Tooth extraction will be easy or surgical, depending on whether your tooth is visible or affected. You will find a local anesthetic, which closes the area around your tooth so you can feel only pressure, not pain, during the process. The dentist then uses a tool called an elevator to loosen the tooth and forceps to remove it. You will probably find both local anesthesia and intravenous anesthesia, the last of which will keep you calm and relaxed. You may also receive general anesthesia, depending on the medical condition. With regular anesthesia, you will remain unconscious during the procedure. A regular dentist or oral surgeon will cut your gums with a small incision. They may need to remove the bone around your tooth or cut your tooth before it is extracted.
